What do we mean when we say blessed Easter? Isn't usually happy Easter? Why say blessed? Well, firstly the Resurrection is the most important happening in the history of the Catholic Church. On Easter Christ rose from the dead to fulfill the last prophecy of the Old Testament, "He shall rise the third day," which completed the work of Redemption. Secondly, on this day of Easter Christ affirmed his life's work by proving his Divinity by gloriously rising. This affirmation was so important that the Apostles preached the Resurrection, for on that is founded the proof that a Divine being started the Catholic Church. Thirdly, the Resurrection is also a message of love. Christ conquered death and rose, showing us how we also will rise on the last day, as a result of his sufferings and death on the cross.
God bless
